Origin: Menghai, Yunnan, China
Special Features: Cooked Pu-erh tea (Shou Cha) produced in 2003 by the Menghai Tea Factory for China National Native Produce (CNNP). Made exclusively from spring leaves from plantations in the Menghai region, this tea has been naturally aged in a dry warehouse in Guangdong since 2003. Thanks to this aging process, it develops a rare aromatic richness and excellent clarity in the cup.
Packaging: 100-gram compressed brick
Bouquet: Damp olive-green leaves with aromas of light tobacco and fresh cellar. The liquor is golden red with amber highlights. Subtle nose of dark chocolate with a hint of dry mint in the background.
Texture: Full, clean, and pleasant on the palate
Taste: This tea exhibits a slight bitterness and subtle astringency, while maintaining a mellow and creamy character. Its sweetness is reminiscent of spring water, with well-infused aromas that reveal themselves over time. The lingering aftertaste, both refreshing and sweet, is enhanced by a delicate hint of smoky flavor, adding an extra dimension to the overall tea experience. The flavor evolves beautifully, clean and harmonious. A deep flavor, typical of aged teas from the Menghai region. The aftertaste is sweet and pleasant (Hui Gan).
Tonal Color: Dark gold with a red tinge, with beautiful clarity
Properties: Rich in antioxidants, this tea is ideal after a heavy meal. It aids digestion, purifies the body, and stimulates vital energy. Due to its excellent aging potential, this tea can be stored for better flavor development.
Dosage: 6 to 7 grams for approximately 10 infusions
Preparation: Tea awakening: Rinse twice at 100°C (2 to 3 seconds)
Infusion: Start at 90°C, 10 seconds for the first infusion, then gradually increase the time.
Note: Stored naturally in Guangzhou, this tea has been carefully aged to enhance its distinctive qualities. This natural process gives it a deeper and more complex flavor profile.
The flavor and color of Pu-erh tea evolve with time and storage precautions. Fresh raw tea brews a bright yellowish broth with a strong, almost harsh taste. Aged raw tea brews an amber broth with a mild flavor. Fresh, ripe tea brews a bright red broth with a mild and mellow flavor. Older ripe tea brews a dark red broth with a thick and mellow flavor. The flavor, quality, and value of Pu-erh tea steadily improve with age. The older it is, the better and sweeter it is.
